2x24HR Recovery (March 2014)

March 10th and today, March 31st are the two days this month that I have taken a full day off from workouts.

When you get used to double training sessions everyday, taking a full day off can sometimes seem difficult.

I can question myself like:

Do I really need a day off? Wouldn’t it be better if I just do an easy workout?

But in reality, a break from the norm, is exactly what my body needs. Without proper recovery time, the potential for injury poses a much greater risk.

And besides the physical aspect of recovery, I find that a full day off gives my mind a reboot.

After today, I’ll be recalibrated, reset and ready for another long training cycle.

Nassau Run Series Part 3 – Cedar Creek Park 5 miler

This was the 3rd race out of a 4 race series. GLIRC and Run Nassau have been putting on excellent community races and this event was no different. Our course took us around the park, featured an out and back to the aerodrome, and then another loop before finishing the 5 miler.

My performance was measured based on how much fatigue were left from yesterday’s double bike race in Branchbrook.

My goal was to hit around 30 minutes and was able to muster a 29:51, good for 5th place overall.

Ed from the Long Island running team, We Are Athletes, was out there again taking race photos and I particularly liked these.

Nassau Run Series Part 2 – Lido Beach 4 miler

Windy and flat. Not my favorite race conditions, but it’s always good to get a workout in. This was nothing special…so here are some pics!
