January 2014 Tally

A monthly tally would give you an idea of what I do to train for my races. I use Training Peaks WKO+ to log all of my sessions so it’s really easy for me to run analytics. The program also has many in-depth features but I usually like to take a broader look to see my overall progression throughout the season.

January has been a challenging month. My bike sessions have suffered from the constant snowfall and blistering temperatures. This is the time of the year where I don’t have much structure to my training, as long as the staple workouts are done. Junk miles are not as important right now, so it’s a bonus when I can find the time to log some easy miles.

Month – January
Duration – 51:18:42 (surprisingly the same as December ’13)
Distance – 669.55 miles
HR (avg) – 138 bpm
TSS – 1803
kJ – 9657

All I can say is…WOW!  The season started up in January with a handful of running races, where I set personal bests in the 10km, half marathon (twice) and marathon. In March, I ran a 1:17 half marathon at Rock n Roll DC and then followed it up with a 1:16 half marathon at the…

  • An Interesting Start,2013.

For those who live in the Northeast, we’ve had a pretty miserable winter. Wind chills and frequent snow storms have become a humbling experience. Nonetheless, the training must go on! • 2012, A Quick Recap

It’s been over a year since my last post. Why? Because I kept telling myself I had no time – that was true, (juggling a full time class schedule + work + 15-20 hours of training) but also, I didn’t think I had anything to write about. 2012 was a stellar year. Some highlights include…
